AN office interior specialist has landed a place on the framework agreement of the UK’s largest construction firm, potentially securing the firm £6m a year.

Beacons Business Interiors (BBI) were selected by Balfour Beatty Workplace to deliver its client facilities management programme in the next three years.

The firm has already been involved in refurbishment contracts for Balfour Beatty’s major blue-chip clients and has won a record £4m worth of contracts over the past eight weeks.

BBI has been granted contracts in the last year for the Welsh Rugby Union, Lloyds Banking Group and disaster recovery firm SunGard.

The latest announcement indicates BBI are bucking the trend for facilities support organisations, many of which have been badly hit by the downturn.

BBI has been involved in the refurbishment of ceilings, partitioning, lighting, mechanical installations and providing office and restaurant furniture

Andy Graham, group chairman for BBI, said: “This is fantastic news for BBI and it is great to be able to expand on our existing relationship with Balfour Beatty Workplace.

“We already provide facilities support services to a number of blue chip clients such as The Lloyds Banking Group, Zurich, SunGard and Computershare and it will be great to add Balfour Beatty Workplace to our list of regular clients.

“Our network of offices across the UK combined with our specialist teams, mean we can offer Balfour Beatty Workplace a variety of support services under one roof.”

Iain Taylor, purchasing manager for Balfour Beatty Workplace, said: “It is great to have an established company like BBI as part of our strategic alliance framework.

“We are aiming to reduce our number of sub-contractors to improve efficiencies and companies like BBI, which can offer us a one-stop-shop, dovetail very well into our own self-delivery model.”
