SOUTH WALES company Edwards Coaches has landed a contract with the Welsh Rugby Union.
Based at Llantwit Fadre, Edwards Coaches has invested in a new coach specifically for the contract after securing an asset finance facility from Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance.
It has entered into a five-year deal the with WRU.
Last year it supplied executive transport for the British and Irish Lions and Take That’s record-breaking Circus tour.
Established 85 years ago, the family firm is owned by Mike Edwards and employs 210 people. It has a fleet of 140 coaches and caters for 60,000 clients a year. It operates a school service which carries more than 6,000 students each day.
Its new coach has tinted glass, full leather reclining seats, flat-screen TVs, a rear lounge area, and a kitchen.
Mr Edwards, commercial director and fifth generation of the founding family, said: “Since Edwards Coaches was set up in 1925, the company has won customers by offering exceptional service and that is still the same today. We’re extremely proud that we’ve secured the Welsh Rugby Union team contract, as it tops a hugely successful 12 months for us.”
Lesley Williams, regional manager at Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, commented: “Edwards Coaches is a significant employer in the local area and winning contracts such as the Welsh Rugby Union will ensure that this continues.”
