Latin American consultancy and systems integrator Grupo Assa is planning on establishing direct operations in Colombia, the company’s marketing and communications vice president, María Fernanda Santoro, told BNamericas.

“We’re considering opening an office in Colombia, but these plans are currently being reviewed,” she said.

Grupo Assa currently serves its Peruvian and Colombian customers from existing facilities in other parts of Latin America. Last year, the company carried out projects for several Andean-based companies in sectors such as the bottling industry.

Santoro said plans to establish direct operations in Colombia will hinge in part on business growth.

Earlier this month, the company unveiled a delivery center in Argentina. The new, US$1.5mn facility will provide application support and maintenance services for 20 companies in Latin America, the US, Europe and Asia.

“They are generally consumer goods and manufacturing companies, and also some retailers,” Santoro said.

The executive added that Grupo Assa is also considering opening a new delivery center in Mexico at the end of this year or beginning of 2011.

REVENUE PROJECTIONS

Grupo Assa expects 2010 revenues to increase 30%, Santoro said, adding that the company will triple sales during the next four years. Large corporations continue to outsource application maintenance and support to become more competitive, and this trend is driving business for Grupo Assa, according to the executive.

Other areas of focus include integration and technology services.

Grupo Assa’s sales rose 9% last year, reaching US$51mn, with growth in each of the main business areas, including outsourcing, consulting and integration.

The company currently has offices in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Chile, and also has a commercial presence in the US and parts of Europe.
