Buckman has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Flame Seal Products Inc. for its fire protection products.

The products will form the core of Buckman’s Flamebloc GS flame-retardant series of products. They will open new markets for the company and broaden product choices in existing markets, said Chuck Carncross, Buckman’s vice president of performance chemicals. He said the company is also researching new applications for the product.

Flame Seal’s fire protection technologies are non-toxic, non-hazardous and environmentally friendly, according to Buckman, and can be used as a fire-retardant for many applications from coatings to plastics, fabrics and wood.

The deal bring’s Buckman a new line of products and a marketing and distribution channels in the U.S., Canada and Mexico for Flame Seal.

Memphis-based Buckman is a privately held specialty chemical company that produces revenues of more than $500 million annually. Flame Seal is a publicly traded fire prevention technology company based in Houston.
