Ecuadorian state oil company Petroecuador’s transport and distribution subsidiary Petrocomercial has awarded Consorcio Shi Asia-Monteverde the contract for an LPG transport and distribution project.

The group won with a bid of US$115mn, according to a Petrocomercial resolution.

The other bidders were Consorcio Gas Sur del Ecuador, Consorcio Monteverde-El Chorrillo and Consorcio Internacional Monteverde.

The 540-day project includes a 123km, 12-inch pipeline and is part of an integral LPG storage project for the area. It entails the construction of a pumping and distribution station in Monteverde, Santa Elena province, and a storage and distribution terminal in El Chorrillo, Guayas province.

The project aims to reduce the high cost of floating fuel storage and transshipments, and will guarantee supply to the south of the country until 2030.
