Brazilian railway operator America Latina Logistica (ALL) (Bovespa: ALLL11) is in negotiations with potential clients over planned repairs to a 200km railroad stretch in Sao Paulo state, a company spokesperson told BNamericas.
National ground transport agency ANTT has given the company until June of 2011 to renovate the stretch, which connects the town of Cajati in the Vale do Ribeira region to Santos port. The authority had previously specified a deadline of December 2010 to complete the work.
ALL said previously that there were not enough clients to justify the cost of renovating the line, which has been inoperative since 2002.
Budgeted at 69.6mn reais (US$41.8mn), the renovations include work such as platform maintenance, bridge repairs, ground leveling, and track replacement.
