Mexico’s national water authority Conagua is preparing a 208mn-peso (US$17mn) tender to expand the Los Berros potable water plant, serving the federal district (DF) and Mexico state (Edomex), a Conagua spokesperson told BNamericas.
“Bidding rules are being drawn up, and we hope the tender will go ahead at end-April or in early May,” the spokesperson said.
The tender involves the construction of a 6th potable water treatment module, with the capacity to treat 4.6m3/s.
Los Berros currently treats 20m3/s and supplies potable water to around 25% of DF.
The project is an important part of Conagua’s 20-year plan to improve the city’s Cutzamala potable water and reservoir system, the spokesperson said.
